These Terms and Conditions explain the rules that apply when you access or use VereLocal.
VereLocal is a local services platform that helps clients discover, compare and contact businesses, freelancers, sole traders and other independent service providers.
These Terms apply to:
- people searching for or contacting businesses;
- people creating client accounts;
- businesses listed on VereLocal;
- people claiming or managing business profiles;
- businesses using free or paid platform features;
- anyone submitting reviews, messages, quote requests or other content.
By creating an account, claiming a profile, purchasing a VereLocal plan or otherwise using account-based platform features, you agree to these Terms.
Some public parts of VereLocal can be viewed without an account. By continuing to use those parts of the website, you agree to follow the parts of these Terms that apply to visitors.
VereLocal is operated by:
Legal name: Jon Hopkins
Trading name: VereLocal
Email: [email protected]
In these Terms, “VereLocal”, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the person or business operating the platform.
These details must be updated if the legal ownership or operating entity changes.
These Terms should be read alongside our:
- Conduct Rules;
- Acceptable Use Policy;
- Reviews Policy;
- Privacy Notice;
- Verification Standards;
- any plan, payment or subscription information shown when a purchase is made.
Together, these documents explain how VereLocal should be used and how we may respond when something goes wrong.
Where a specific paid feature has additional terms, those additional terms will also apply. If there’s a direct conflict, the more specific terms will normally take priority for that particular feature.
In these Terms:
Business means a business, freelancer, sole trader, partnership, company, charity, organisation or independent provider listed on or using VereLocal to offer services.
Business User means the person who owns, represents, claims or manages a Business profile.
Client means a person or organisation searching for, enquiring about or purchasing services from a Business.
User means any Client, Business User, account holder or other person using VereLocal.
Business Profile means a page containing information about a Business, whether claimed or unclaimed.
Platform means the VereLocal website, accounts, dashboards, search functions, messaging, quote requests, reviews, Business Updates and other services we provide.
Content means information submitted, uploaded, published or shared through VereLocal, including text, photographs, messages, reviews, prices, documents, listings and profile information.
Service Agreement means any agreement made between a Client and a Business for the Business to provide services.
VereLocal provides tools that may allow Users to:
- search for local businesses and service providers;
- compare Business Profiles;
- view reviews and trust information;
- contact Businesses;
- request quotes;
- exchange messages;
- manage enquiries;
- publish Business Updates;
- collect and respond to reviews;
- display services, prices and availability;
- access business-management tools.
Features may differ depending on:
- whether an account is a Client or Business account;
- whether a Business Profile has been claimed;
- the Business’s selected plan;
- category or location;
- whether a feature is still being tested;
- platform availability.
We may introduce, change, restrict or remove features as VereLocal develops.
Unless we expressly state otherwise for a particular feature, VereLocal:
- doesn’t employ the Businesses listed on the platform;
- doesn’t provide the services advertised by Businesses;
- doesn’t set Business prices;
- doesn’t require Businesses to accept particular work;
- doesn’t select a Business on a Client’s behalf;
- isn’t a party to the Service Agreement between a Client and Business;
- doesn’t guarantee that an enquiry will receive a response;
- doesn’t guarantee that a Business will receive enquiries or work;
- doesn’t guarantee the quality, safety, legality or outcome of a service;
- doesn’t act as an insurer, trade body, regulator, debt collector or court;
- doesn’t automatically take the Client’s or Business’s side in a dispute.
The Client and Business are responsible for deciding whether they wish to work with one another and for agreeing the terms of the service.
You must be at least 18 years old to create a VereLocal account, request services or manage a Business Profile.
By creating an account, you confirm that:
- you’re at least 18;
- the information you provide is accurate;
- you’re legally able to agree to these Terms;
- you won’t use the account for someone who has been suspended or banned.
If you use VereLocal on behalf of a company, partnership or other organisation, you confirm that you have authority to act for it and agree to these Terms on its behalf.
Services may sometimes be provided to or involve children or vulnerable people, such as tutoring, childcare or care-related services. An adult must manage the VereLocal account and enquiry.
VereLocal’s appearance of a Business or verification information doesn’t replace appropriate safeguarding checks or the Client’s responsibility to consider whether a provider is suitable.
You must provide accurate information when creating and using an account.
You’re responsible for:
- keeping your account information current;
- keeping your password and login details secure;
- activity carried out through your account;
- telling us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission;
- making sure anyone authorised to use a Business account follows these Terms.
You mustn’t:
- impersonate another person or Business;
- provide false contact details;
- create an account using someone else’s identity;
- share an account for dishonest purposes;
- sell or transfer an account without our permission;
- create accounts to avoid restrictions;
- use multiple accounts to manipulate reviews, enquiries or platform activity.
We may ask for additional information where reasonably needed to confirm an identity, account, Business or authority to manage a profile.
VereLocal may provide different account types, including:
- Client accounts;
- Business accounts;
- account access for Business staff or representatives;
- administrative or moderation accounts.
The features and permissions available to each account type may differ.
You mustn’t attempt to access features, information or areas of the platform that your account isn’t authorised to use.
Where a Business allows another person to manage its account, the Business remains responsible for making sure that person is authorised and uses the account appropriately.
A claimed profile is managed by a Business owner or authorised representative.
The Business User is responsible for ensuring that the profile is accurate and doesn’t mislead Clients.
VereLocal may create an unclaimed Business Profile using information from public sources or information provided to us.
An unclaimed profile should be clearly identified as unclaimed or based on public information.
An unclaimed profile doesn’t mean that the Business:
- has joined VereLocal;
- has approved its profile;
- has been verified;
- is a VereLocal member;
- is endorsed or recommended by VereLocal;
- has agreed to receive enquiries through the platform.
Businesses may contact us to claim, correct or request the removal of an eligible unclaimed profile.
We may retain limited information where reasonably required to record a removal request or prevent an inaccurate profile being recreated.
You may only claim a profile if you own the Business or have authority to act for it.
We may request information to confirm your authority.
Claiming another Business dishonestly or interfering with its profile may result in account removal and further action.
Business Users must take reasonable steps to keep information accurate, including:
- the Business name;
- contact information;
- services;
- service areas;
- opening hours;
- availability;
- prices or price indicators;
- qualifications;
- insurance;
- licences;
- experience;
- ownership information;
- photographs;
- values and profile tags.
You must correct information that you know is no longer accurate.
Businesses remain independent and responsible for how they operate.
A Business is responsible for:
- deciding which enquiries to accept;
- checking that it has the skills and capacity required;
- providing accurate information;
- setting and explaining its prices;
- agreeing the scope of work;
- providing quotes and estimates;
- deciding which payment methods it accepts;
- meeting tax, licensing and regulatory responsibilities;
- holding any legally or professionally required insurance;
- complying with employment and subcontracting responsibilities;
- meeting applicable consumer and contract law;
- keeping appropriate business and financial records;
- carrying out services safely and competently;
- handling Client information appropriately;
- providing any cancellation information or rights required by law.
Being listed on VereLocal doesn’t give a Business permission to provide a regulated or restricted service.
Businesses must decide which laws, registrations, licences, qualifications, background checks and insurance apply to their own activities.
Clients are responsible for deciding whether a Business is suitable for their needs.
Clients should:
- describe the requested work accurately;
- disclose relevant access or safety information;
- ask questions where information is unclear;
- check prices and what’s included;
- check qualifications, insurance or licences where relevant;
- review any quote or agreement carefully;
- agree important changes before additional work is completed;
- provide a reasonably safe working environment;
- pay agreed charges where the agreed service has been delivered;
- raise concerns honestly and without threats.
A Business appearing in search results or holding a particular label doesn’t remove the need for the Client to make a reasonable choice based on the service involved.
VereLocal may use various factors when ordering or displaying Business Profiles.
These may include:
- relevance to the search;
- location and service area;
- profile completeness;
- verification information;
- review information;
- Business activity;
- availability;
- response behaviour;
- service information;
- account or plan features;
- platform testing.
Not every factor will apply to every search.
A paid plan doesn’t guarantee:
- a particular position;
- permanent visibility;
- a minimum number of profile views;
- enquiries;
- bookings;
- revenue;
- preference over a more relevant Business.
We may test different layouts, filters, recommendations and ranking methods to improve VereLocal.
Sponsored or paid placements, if introduced, will be identified where required.
VereLocal may offer checks relating to matters such as:
- identity;
- Business information;
- service area;
- insurance;
- qualifications;
- licences;
- portfolio evidence;
- review provenance.
Verification will be shown as specifically as reasonably possible.
For example, a profile may state that a particular document or piece of information was checked rather than simply describing the entire Business as “verified”.
A verification label means only that the stated check was completed using the information available at the time.
It doesn’t mean that VereLocal:
- guarantees the Business;
- guarantees the quality of future work;
- has inspected every service;
- continuously monitors the Business;
- confirms every statement on the profile;
- accepts responsibility for the Business’s conduct;
- promises that a document remains current after its expiry or replacement.
Businesses mustn’t alter, imitate or misuse VereLocal verification labels.
We may remove, suspend or change a verification status where:
- information expires;
- information changes;
- we believe it may be false;
- a check needs to be repeated;
- the Business no longer meets the stated standard;
- the account is restricted or investigated.
Businesses may be able to select optional tags describing matters such as their values, ownership or approach.
Unless stated otherwise, these tags may be self-declared.
Businesses must only select tags they reasonably believe apply to them.
VereLocal won’t normally infer a sensitive personal characteristic or assign an identity-based tag without an appropriate basis.
A tag:
- isn’t a guarantee;
- may not have been independently verified;
- doesn’t mean VereLocal endorses every opinion or action of the Business;
- may be removed where it’s misleading, abusive or inconsistent with our rules.
Clients should use tags as one piece of information rather than assuming they prove suitability.
Clients may be able to contact Businesses or request quotes through VereLocal.
An enquiry or quote request:
- isn’t a confirmed booking;
- doesn’t require the Client to accept a quote;
- doesn’t require the Business to accept the work;
- doesn’t create a Service Agreement by itself;
- doesn’t guarantee a response.
Clients must submit genuine and reasonably accurate enquiries.
Businesses must respond honestly and mustn’t present an estimate as fixed where it may change.
Users mustn’t use enquiries or messages for:
- spam;
- unrelated selling;
- harassment;
- fraud;
- phishing;
- gathering personal data for unrelated purposes;
- sending harmful links or files;
- discriminatory or abusive communication;
- repeatedly contacting someone who has asked them to stop.
VereLocal may apply limits to enquiries or messages to prevent misuse.
The Service Agreement is made directly between the Client and Business.
The Client and Business are responsible for agreeing matters such as:
- the service to be provided;
- the price;
- whether the price is fixed or estimated;
- materials and additional costs;
- timing;
- access;
- deposits;
- payment dates;
- cancellation arrangements;
- refunds;
- changes to the work;
- responsibility for damage;
- any guarantee provided by the Business.
VereLocal isn’t automatically a party to that agreement simply because the people met or communicated through the platform.
Information displayed on a Business Profile doesn’t necessarily form the complete Service Agreement. Important details should be confirmed directly between the Client and Business.
Each party should keep appropriate records of what was agreed.
Businesses set their own prices.
VereLocal doesn’t decide whether a Business is cheap, expensive or appropriately priced.
Prices may reasonably vary depending on:
- the scope of the work;
- location;
- timing;
- materials;
- complexity;
- experience;
- availability;
- specialist requirements.
Businesses should explain whether a price is fixed, estimated, hourly or subject to additional charges.
Clients should confirm what’s included before agreeing to proceed.
Unless VereLocal expressly provides a payment service:
- payments are made directly between the Client and Business;
- VereLocal doesn’t hold deposits;
- VereLocal doesn’t provide escrow;
- VereLocal doesn’t guarantee refunds;
- VereLocal doesn’t collect unpaid invoices for Businesses;
- VereLocal isn’t responsible for the payment method selected.
Clients mustn’t deliberately obtain completed work without paying agreed charges.
Businesses mustn’t charge for work, materials or time that weren’t provided.
A genuine disagreement about quality, scope, completion or price isn’t automatically fraud or misconduct by either side.
We may restrict an account where credible information indicates deliberate non-payment, payment fraud, dishonest charging or repeated misuse, but we may not be able to decide the legal outcome of a private payment dispute.
Clients and Businesses are responsible for agreeing any cancellation or rescheduling arrangements that apply to their Service Agreement.
Businesses must provide any cancellation rights or information required by law.
VereLocal doesn’t create a universal cancellation policy for every service arranged through the platform.
Different rules may apply depending on:
- the type of service;
- whether the Client is acting as a consumer;
- how and where the agreement was made;
- whether the service has already started;
- whether the service relates to a specific date;
- the Business’s own lawful cancellation terms.
A cancellation dispute should normally be raised directly between the Client and Business.
We may review associated conduct where cancellation terms appear to have been used dishonestly, abusively or misleadingly.
Reviews are governed by our Reviews Policy.
Reviews must be based on a genuine, relevant experience.
Users mustn’t:
- publish fake reviews;
- review their own Business;
- pay for undisclosed reviews;
- arrange review swaps;
- submit reviews to damage a competitor;
- use reviews to threaten or blackmail someone;
- publish prohibited personal information;
- manipulate ratings through multiple accounts.
Businesses can ask genuine Clients for reviews but can’t require a positive rating.
Businesses can respond to reviews but must do so respectfully and without exposing unnecessary private information.
We may:
- request evidence;
- add or change review labels;
- restrict a review while it’s investigated;
- remove all or part of a review;
- restrict Users involved in review manipulation.
A review label explains the information available to VereLocal. It doesn’t mean we have independently proven every statement in the review.
21. Business Updates and other public Content
Businesses may be able to publish updates, promotions, availability information, articles, advice or service announcements.
Business Updates must be accurate when published and kept current where appropriate.
Businesses mustn’t use updates to:
- publish expired or deliberately misleading promotions;
- make false scarcity or availability claims;
- impersonate another organisation;
- publish illegal or discriminatory content;
- send Users to harmful or deceptive websites;
- make professional claims they aren’t entitled to make;
- publish another person’s work without permission.
VereLocal may apply publication dates, expiry dates, categories or moderation controls to updates.
We don’t guarantee that every update will be published, indexed by search engines or displayed to every User.
22. Content ownership
You keep ownership of Content you create and submit to VereLocal.
You confirm that:
- you own the Content; or
- you have permission to use and share it; and
- our permitted use of it won’t unlawfully infringe someone else’s rights.
You mustn’t upload:
- photographs copied from another Business;
- misleading portfolio examples;
- copyrighted text without permission;
- confidential documents;
- forged evidence;
- material that unlawfully infringes a trade mark or other right.
Where you believe Content on VereLocal infringes your rights, you can contact us and explain the issue.
23. Permission to use submitted Content
When you submit Content, you give VereLocal a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to:
- host it;
- store it;
- copy it;
- format it;
- resize or compress it;
- display it;
- publish it;
- moderate it;
- distribute it through VereLocal;
- use it to operate and promote the relevant profile or platform feature.
This permission lasts for as long as reasonably necessary to provide VereLocal and manage records, complaints, security or legal responsibilities.
For public Business Content, this may include displaying extracts in:
- search results;
- category pages;
- location pages;
- promotional previews;
- social sharing previews;
- VereLocal marketing about the relevant Business or platform.
We won’t claim ownership of your original Content.
Where reasonable, you can remove or update your Content through your account. Some information may remain in backups, moderation records or legal records for a limited period.
You may provide suggestions, survey responses, bug reports or other feedback about VereLocal.
We may use this feedback to develop and improve the platform without paying a fee or treating the feedback as confidential, unless we’ve specifically agreed otherwise.
This doesn’t give us ownership of private information or material unrelated to the feedback.
VereLocal may review, restrict or remove accounts and Content where reasonably needed to:
- enforce these Terms;
- apply our Conduct Rules or policies;
- protect Users;
- investigate complaints;
- prevent fraud or manipulation;
- respond to illegal Content;
- protect privacy or intellectual property;
- maintain platform security;
- comply with legal responsibilities.
We may use:
- reports from Users;
- automated detection;
- account and activity information;
- messages or Content available to us;
- supporting evidence;
- patterns of previous behaviour.
Automated systems may help identify potential concerns, but important decisions may also require human review where appropriate.
We don’t promise to monitor every message, review or piece of Content before it appears.
A failure to remove something immediately doesn’t mean that we approve or endorse it.
26. Reporting Content and behaviour
Users can report Content or behaviour that may break these Terms or our policies.
A report should be made honestly and include enough information for us to understand the concern.
Users mustn’t:
- knowingly make false reports;
- repeatedly report lawful criticism simply because they dislike it;
- use reports to harm a competitor;
- submit misleading evidence;
- use the reporting process to continue harassment.
We may ask the person reporting and the person reported for further information.
Submitting a report doesn’t guarantee a particular decision.
Where there’s an immediate threat to life or safety, contact the emergency services rather than relying on VereLocal’s reporting system.
Where we reasonably believe these Terms or our policies have been broken, we may:
- issue guidance or a warning;
- ask for information to be corrected;
- remove Content;
- restrict messages, reviews or enquiries;
- pause a Business Profile;
- remove verification information;
- limit account features;
- temporarily suspend an account;
- permanently remove an account;
- prevent a person from creating another account;
- report serious illegal activity to an appropriate authority.
We may take immediate action without warning where necessary to address:
- fraud;
- account compromise;
- serious harassment;
- illegal Content;
- immediate safety risks;
- deliberate review manipulation;
- repeated non-payment or dishonest charging;
- attempts to evade a previous ban;
- serious platform or security misuse.
For less serious issues, we may give the User an opportunity to correct the problem.
Paid access doesn’t prevent us from restricting or removing an account.
Where appropriate, a User may ask us to review a moderation decision.
A review request should:
- identify the decision;
- explain why the User believes it was incorrect;
- include any relevant new information;
- be made respectfully and honestly.
A review doesn’t guarantee that the original decision will change.
We may refuse repeated requests that raise no new information or are used to harass our team.
VereLocal may offer optional paid plans or features to Businesses.
Before purchasing, the Business will be shown information such as:
- the plan or feature;
- the price;
- applicable taxes;
- the billing period;
- included features;
- whether the plan renews;
- how to cancel.
Prices may differ by plan, category or service type.
A paid plan provides access to the features described at the time of purchase. It doesn’t guarantee enquiries, Clients, rankings, bookings or financial results.
Certain features may remain subject to:
- profile approval;
- moderation;
- verification;
- category availability;
- fair-use limits;
- technical requirements.
Where a paid plan renews automatically, this will be explained before purchase.
Unless otherwise stated:
- monthly plans renew each month;
- payment is taken using the saved payment method;
- the plan continues until cancelled;
- cancellation stops the next renewal;
- access normally continues until the end of the paid billing period.
Businesses can cancel through the available account controls or by contacting us where account cancellation isn’t available.
Cancelling a VereLocal paid plan doesn’t automatically remove the Business Profile. The profile may return to the available free level unless the Business separately requests removal.
We may change the price of a renewing plan by giving reasonable advance notice. The Business may cancel before the changed price applies.
Any legal cancellation or refund rights that can’t be excluded will continue to apply.
Where a subscription payment fails, we may:
- retry the payment;
- ask the Business to update its payment method;
- temporarily restrict paid features;
- move the profile to a free plan;
- cancel the subscription.
We won’t charge a fee that wasn’t disclosed before purchase.
The Business remains responsible for authorised charges due before cancellation.
Any specific refund arrangements will be shown during purchase or in the relevant subscription information.
Unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise:
- subscription fees cover access during the relevant billing period;
- cancelling partway through a period doesn’t automatically create a refund;
- unused features or a lack of enquiries don’t automatically entitle a Business to a refund;
- we may provide a discretionary refund or account credit where appropriate.
Nothing in this section removes any statutory right that applies to the person purchasing the plan.
Some or all of VereLocal may be identified as beta, preview, early access or testing functionality.
During testing:
- features may be incomplete;
- designs and workflows may change;
- errors may occur;
- information may display incorrectly;
- integrations or notifications may fail;
- features may be reset or removed;
- service availability may be interrupted;
- test information may be deleted where reasonably required.
Users should avoid relying on beta features as their only record of important Business or Client information.
We’ll take reasonable care when operating the beta, but we don’t promise that every feature will work continuously or remain unchanged.
Feedback and bug reports are welcome, but Users mustn’t deliberately exploit a security issue or access information they aren’t authorised to view.
We aim to keep VereLocal available and useful, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted access.
The platform may be unavailable because of:
- maintenance;
- security work;
- software updates;
- provider outages;
- technical faults;
- events outside our reasonable control;
- urgent legal or safety action.
We may change or discontinue parts of the platform.
Where a paid feature is permanently removed, we’ll consider whether a proportionate refund, credit or alternative is appropriate.
VereLocal may link to or integrate with third-party services.
These might include:
- Business websites;
- mapping providers;
- payment providers;
- email providers;
- analytics services;
- social networks;
- external booking or payment links.
We don’t control every third-party service and aren’t responsible for its separate content, security, availability or terms.
A link doesn’t necessarily mean that VereLocal endorses the third party.
Users should review the third party’s own terms and privacy information before using it.
The VereLocal name, branding, platform design, software, databases, page structure and original platform Content belong to us or our licensors.
You may use VereLocal for its intended purpose.
You mustn’t, without permission:
- copy substantial parts of the platform;
- reproduce VereLocal branding in a misleading way;
- create a service that falsely appears connected to VereLocal;
- scrape or extract substantial platform data;
- reverse engineer protected software;
- sell access to VereLocal;
- use VereLocal Content to build a competing directory or database;
- remove ownership or copyright notices.
Businesses may share links to their own public profiles and use any approved VereLocal profile assets made available for that purpose.
You mustn’t:
- attempt to access accounts or systems without permission;
- bypass security or access controls;
- upload malware;
- carry out denial-of-service activity;
- use bots to create accounts or messages;
- manipulate analytics or ranking signals;
- scrape the platform without permission;
- probe for vulnerabilities without written authorisation;
- interfere with the platform’s normal operation;
- collect User information unlawfully.
If you discover a security concern, report it privately to us.
Our Privacy Notice explains how we collect and use personal information.
Users must also handle information obtained through VereLocal responsibly.
In particular, Users mustn’t:
- sell another User’s contact details;
- add someone to unrelated marketing without the appropriate permission;
- publish private information unnecessarily;
- access another User’s account;
- use enquiry information for an unrelated purpose;
- expose verification documents or private messages.
Businesses remain responsible for their own data-protection obligations when handling Client information for their services.
Information on VereLocal may include:
- general guides;
- price information;
- cost calculators;
- articles;
- Business descriptions;
- community answers;
- automated or calculated outputs.
This information is provided for general guidance.
Unless clearly stated otherwise, VereLocal isn’t providing legal, financial, medical, tax, safety or other regulated professional advice.
Cost information and calculators are estimates and may not reflect the actual price of a particular service.
Users should obtain appropriate professional advice where needed.
A Business remains responsible for advice it provides directly to its Clients.
Clients and Businesses should first try to resolve disagreements directly and reasonably.
VereLocal may provide reporting, moderation or communication tools, but we don’t promise to mediate or decide every dispute.
We may consider conduct relevant to continued platform access, including:
- deliberate non-payment;
- dishonest charging;
- threats;
- harassment;
- fake reviews;
- misleading evidence;
- repeated cancellations;
- dangerous behaviour;
- misuse of messages.
A platform decision about an account or review isn’t a legal ruling about the Service Agreement.
Either party may still use any legal, regulatory, insurance or alternative dispute process available to them.
This section applies where you use VereLocal mainly for personal rather than business purposes.
We’re responsible for foreseeable loss or damage caused by our failure to use reasonable care and skill or by our breach of these Terms.
Loss is foreseeable where it was obvious that it might happen or where both you and VereLocal knew it might happen when you agreed to these Terms.
We aren’t responsible for:
- losses caused by a Business;
- the quality or outcome of services provided by a Business;
- losses caused by inaccurate Business information that we couldn’t reasonably have identified;
- losses caused by your failure to follow reasonable safety or security instructions;
- business losses arising from personal use of the platform;
- events outside our reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.
This includes liability for:
- death or personal injury caused by negligence;
- fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
- your statutory rights where they can’t lawfully be excluded.
This section applies where you use VereLocal for purposes connected to a trade, Business, profession or organisation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, VereLocal isn’t responsible for:
- loss of profit;
- loss of revenue;
- loss of business;
- loss of opportunity;
- loss of expected savings;
- loss of goodwill;
- indirect or consequential loss;
- loss caused by a Client or another Business;
- a lack of enquiries, bookings or profile visibility;
- Business decisions made using estimates or platform information.
Our total liability to a Business User arising from VereLocal in any 12-month period will not normally exceed the greater of:
- £100; or
- the total amount that Business User paid directly to VereLocal during that period.
This limit doesn’t apply where liability can’t legally be limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Nothing in these Terms removes any right that legally applies despite the Business nature of the account.
You’re responsible for:
- Content you submit;
- information you provide;
- your use of another person’s information;
- agreements you make;
- your conduct toward other Users;
- complying with laws that apply to you.
Where your deliberate or negligent breach of these Terms causes VereLocal a direct and reasonable loss, we may seek to recover that loss from you.
We won’t hold an individual Client responsible for remote or unexpected commercial losses that weren’t reasonably foreseeable.
You may request to close your account through the available account controls or by contacting us.
Before closing an account, you should save any information you need.
Closing an account may not immediately remove:
- published reviews;
- Business information we’re entitled to retain;
- records of transactions or consent;
- moderation and security records;
- information required for legal or regulatory reasons;
- Content retained in backups for a limited period.
Where appropriate, public Content may be anonymised rather than removed.
Closing a Business account doesn’t necessarily remove an eligible public or unclaimed Business Profile. A separate removal or correction request may be required.
We may end or restrict access where:
- these Terms are seriously or repeatedly broken;
- an account creates a safety, fraud or security risk;
- we’re legally required to act;
- a Business ceases operating;
- required information isn’t provided;
- payment for a paid plan remains overdue;
- the platform or relevant feature is discontinued.
Where reasonable, we’ll explain the action taken and provide an opportunity to raise concerns.
We may withhold details where disclosure would:
- create a safety or security risk;
- reveal confidential detection methods;
- interfere with an investigation;
- breach another person’s rights;
- prevent us from complying with law.
We may update these Terms where reasonably needed because of:
- changes to VereLocal;
- new features;
- changes in law or regulation;
- security requirements;
- changes to our operating model;
- improvements in clarity.
The latest version will be published on this page.
For material changes affecting account holders, we may provide notice through the platform or by email.
Where a change materially affects a paid plan during an existing billing period, it won’t normally remove a core paid feature without an appropriate alternative, credit or cancellation option.
Continuing to use account-based features after updated Terms take effect means you accept them. Where law requires a more specific form of agreement, we’ll request it.
We may transfer our rights and responsibilities under these Terms to another organisation, for example if VereLocal changes legal entity, is restructured or is sold.
We’ll take reasonable steps to ensure that a transfer doesn’t reduce your rights and will notify affected Users where required.
You may not transfer your account or your rights under these Terms to another person without our permission.
If a court or relevant authority decides that part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the remaining parts will continue to apply.
Not enforcing a provision immediately doesn’t mean we’ve permanently given up the right to enforce it.
These Terms are between you and VereLocal.
Unless these Terms expressly say otherwise, another person doesn’t have the right to enforce them.
This doesn’t affect the separate rights and responsibilities created by a Service Agreement between a Client and Business.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you’re using VereLocal as a consumer and live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also benefit from mandatory protections under the law where you live and may be able to bring proceedings in your local courts.
Business Users agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes between the Business User and VereLocal, unless the law requires otherwise.
